Celestia Data

Public on-chain analytics platform built for Celestia stakeholders. It includes metrics for the Celestia token, the DA layer market and the rollups main metrics and comparisons.

The pipeline is built with BigQuery and DBT batch pipelines, incremental modeling, semantic metrics, and Next.js dashboards optimizing cost vs performance.

Introduction

I contributed to the design and launch of Celestia's first dedicated analytics dashboard, focused on the token, rollups, and the data-availability (DA) layer market. The goal was to give investors, validators, and developers access to transparent, actionable metrics that were previously fragmented or inaccessible. Unlike multi-chain platforms, this product specialized in Celestia's modular architecture, delivering high-frequency insights on token health, rollup adoption, and DA cost efficiency with intuitive visualizations.

The Challenge

Celestia's modular design introduced new monitoring needs: cross-rollup metrics, validator performance, and DA market comparisons. The challenge was capturing millions of daily events across rollups, processing them efficiently, and surfacing the data without overwhelming infrastructure costs while making complex data intuitive for both community members and institutional stakeholders.

Solution & Approach

We architected an analytics platform centered on building a reliable data accessibility layer and scalable pipelines, with a focus on cost efficiency, accuracy, and usability:

Data Accessibility Layer

  • Unified ingestion of on-chain data across Celestia and rollups
  • Normalized schemas enabling consistent cross-rollup queries
  • Built semantic metrics layer to standardize calculations
  • Historical storage and incremental updates in BigQuery
  • Exposed data models optimized for dashboards and institutional use

Data Pipeline & Analytics

  • Ingestion of blockchain data via RPC endpoints
  • BigQuery for historical storage and DBT for transformations
  • Caching strategies to minimize redundant queries
  • Incremental updates and cost-efficient materialized views with minimal latency
  • Aggregation pipelines for rollup-level statistics
  • Network, token and rollups analytics with custom metrics

Results & Impact

The Celestia Dashboard became the reference analytics hub for the ecosystem: stakeholders use it for network, token, rollup, and DA insights. With 99.9% uptime, p99 < 150 ms on core views, and pipelines processing millions of events daily, it proves that a disciplined data layer can make modular telemetry accessible and actionable without runaway costs.

Platform Achievements

  • 99.9% uptime since launch with zero data incidents
  • Data pipelines processing millions of daily events
  • Scalable architecture supporting 20+ rollup chains
  • Standardized semantic metrics adopted across stakeholders

Technical Contribution

  • Efficient queries sustaining <150ms latency
  • 99.9% uptime on the API since launch
  • Stable dbt pipelines with automated testing
  • Monitoring and alerting for infrastructure and data quality
  • Cost optimization via query tuning and storage layout (partitioning/clustering)

The Celestia Dashboard continues to evolve as new rollups join the ecosystem, establishing itself as the trusted source for DA and rollup analytics, and turning raw telemetry into decision-grade intelligence for both institutional and community stakeholders.
